Warrior Expeditions
Great American Rail Trail
Warrior Expeditions
After covering 2000+ miles of the Great American Rail Trail I have decided to pause this ride until Spring of 2027.
The Journey Changed. So Did I.
On May 21, 2026, I began a cross-country bicycle journey with Warrior Expeditions, not simply to ride across America, but to explore what it means to continue living with purpose, curiosity, and adventure.
When I rolled away from Washington, D.C., I thought the journey would primarily be about endurance. More than 2,000 miles later, I discovered it was about something much deeper.
Traveling across the country by bicycle slows life down enough to notice what we often miss. Small towns. Changing landscapes. Conversations with strangers. Unexpected kindness. And the messages coming from your own body.
One of the greatest discoveries was the generosity of the people we met. Strangers offered meals, shelter, encouragement, and conversation. I learned that America looks very different at 12 miles per hour. You don't simply pass through communities. You meet the people who live there.
The journey also taught me about adaptation and recovery.
The original plan was to ride from Washington, D.C. to Seattle in one continuous journey. The plan changed. The purpose didn't.
I’ll be returning in 2027 to complete the remaining miles.
I began this journey wanting to demonstrate that aging doesn't have to mean the end of adventure. I believe that even more strongly today.
Adventure isn't about proving how tough you are. It's about remaining curious enough to begin, determined enough to continue, and aware enough to recognize when circumstances are asking you to adapt.
Sometimes adventure means moving forward.
Sometimes it means changing direction.
And sometimes it means knowing the journey isn't over simply because the plan changed.
Age loudly. Adventure boldly.
Apparently, I Camped in the Wrong Spot
Sometimes, the lesson arrives with six loud snorts before sunrise.
