What is Warrior Expeditions?

What is Warrior Expeditions? It’s a nonprofit organization that helps combat veterans transition from military service by providing “long healing journeys” like cross-country bicycle rides, hikes, and paddling trips—along with training, gear support, and a supportive community—to build purpose, resilience, and connection.

Warrior Expeditions offers three core expeditions:

  • Warrior Hike — a long-distance hike (notably the Appalachian Trail).

  • Warrior Bike — a cross-country ride on the Great American Rail-Trail route.

  • Warrior Paddle — a source-to-sea paddle down the Mississippi River.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be a veteran who served in a combat zone and be honorably discharged.

What you must submit/provide

  • Complete the Warrior Expeditions application, which asks for:

    • Your service history (branch, rank, MOS, service dates, discharge type)

    • Combat deployments (units/locations/dates)

    • Disability rating and any service-connected injuries / current health issues

  • After submitting, you must email your DD-214, and your VA Disability Rating Letter (if applicable).

If selected (participation expectations)

  • You’ll be asked to confirm you’re 100% committed to completing the expedition and to maintaining positive relationships with supporters/sponsors.
