The Rhythm of Recovery
Today was a great ride on the Cardinal Greenway Rail Trail into Muncie, IN.
At 782 miles into this expedition, I’m discovering something important:
There’s a big difference between riding 50 to 60 miles in a day and accumulating that kind of mileage day after day on a fully loaded touring bike.
At first, the challenge feels physical. Can I ride the miles?
But somewhere along the way, the question changes to can I recover enough to do it again tomorrow?
Long-distance touring stops being a one-day fitness test and becomes an ongoing conversation between effort, recovery, nutrition, mindset, and adaptation.
The body adjusts and the routine becomes the rhythm.
And tonight, after another good day on the trail, it’s time to rest, recover, and get ready to do it again.
782 miles down. More adventure waiting just up the trail.
The challenge isn’t the ride. It’s learning to repeat it.
